How to Overcome Evil with Good
Trust God
God’s goodness triumphs over evil every time. When in doubt, do the next right thing in God’s eyes. The enemy may have schemes for you, but God has plans for you that are far more powerful than any tactic the devil can conceive. Trust God’s plans and power more than you fear the enemy’s traps and tricks.
Don’t let evil conquer you, but conquer evil by doing good.
Romans 12:21
We know that God’s children do not make a practice of sinning, for God’s Son holds them securely, and the evil one cannot touch them.
We know that we are children of God and that the world around us is under the control of the evil one.
~ 1 John 5:18-19, NLT (emphasis mine)
Do the Opposite
Do not give the devil a foothold.

Don’t give your enemy a foothold or even so much as a place to rest his little toe in your life. Oppose your opponent by doing the opposite. (See how those words are all closely related?)
When life spins sideways and situations start going off the rails,I have difficulty figuring out what God wants me to do. Sometimeswe take a tumble and become so disoriented that it’s hard to figureout which way is up.
When the right course of action isn’t obvious, or I’m starting to feel defeated, I imagine what my enemy would want me to do and then I do the opposite.
24 Ways to Overcome Evil
So when the devil wants me to give up, I’ll keep marching on.
When he tempts me to fight people instead of him, I’ll give people a gentle answer and him an icy stare.
When he pushes me to get ahead of God, I’ll wait patiently and expectantly for God’s perfect timing.
When he suffocates me under the pressure of various trials, I’ll focus on breathing deeply of God’s Spirit of power and courage and love (2 Timothy 1:7).
When he tries to put out the fire within me with buckets of cold water, I will fan the flame of God’s good gifts (2 Timothy 1:6).
When he brings up my past, I’ll remind him of his future.
When he drags me into a pit of discouragement, depression, or despair, I will call out to the One who lifts me up and sets my feet on solid ground (Psalms 40:2).
When he assaults me with fear, I will cast all my anxieties upon Jesus who cares for me (1 Peter 5:7).
When he tries to rile me, I will remain calm and unruffled, resting in Jesus who is my Prince of Peace (Ephesians 2:14, Isaiah 9:6).
When he slings his fiery darts at me, I will raise high my shield of faith and press on to fight in the shade (Ephesians 6:16).
When he feeds me lies, I will spit them out and consume the truth of God’s Word.
When he wants me to tremble in trepidation, I will choose to stand strong boldly with a heart of courage.
When he attempts to silence me, I will praise God all the more.
When he tries to stare me down, I will fix my gaze on Jesus alone.
When he wants to fuel the fires of hate, I will respond with the cleansing waters of compassion.
When he pours worries down upon me, I will lift up my eyes and worship the Lord of All.
When he tells me I’m unloved, I will know I am God’s Beloved.
When he says I am defeated, I will shout that Jesus is my Victor and my Champion.
When he wins a battle or two, I’ll remember he’s already lost the war.
When he says I’m inadequate or not enough, I’ll say Jesus is my All in All. He is always My More-Than-Enough.
When he tempts me to self-pity, I will reach out to serve others in Jesus’ name.
When he makes me feel alone and abandoned, I will know that Jesus lives in me and my very own body houses the Holy Spirit of my God (1 Corinthians 6:19). My God is closer to me than my next breath. If I stretch out my hand to find Him, I have reached too far.
When he says I’m worthless, I’ll remind him of the price Jesus paid for me (1 Peter 1:18-19).
When he whispers in the dark, “God doesn’t love you,” I will shout back, “God loved me so much that He gave His Best and His Only for me.” ( John 3:16)

Overcome evil. Don't give in to it.
What do you think the enemy would love for you to do right now? Get up and go do the opposite. Resist him and he’ll leave. Live like you are undefeated and you will be! Who Will Give Up First? God will never give up on you. No matter how many times you resist Him, He will keep loving you and offer eternal, abundant life to you. Your enemy is not as committed as your God. When he sees he’s not making any headway with you, he will give up and get lost. He will wait for a more opportune time (Luke 4:13). Just keep saying no. Keep resisting. Keep refusing to give in. Make sure the devil gives up before you do. After all, God is on your side.
If God is for us, who can be against us?
